Woke up a bit early, ate my cereal, had my coffee, and set out for goals for the day:
1. Rosamond Johnson Beach Entrance Station for Gulf Islands stamp
2. Fort Barrancas VC for Gulf Islands Stamp
3. Revisit to Pensacola NAS Naval Air Museum
4. Pensacola Lighthouse tour and stamp
Took me 35 miles or so over to the Perdido Key area of the Gulf Islands, and I followed the signs instead of the GPS to find the entrance station. Turned out to be a good move-
Got one of the two stamps that were listed for here, but I'm sure the other is no longer available, it had been reported as missing:
Then a short drive over to the Pensacola Naval Air Station, where within a mile were the three other stops I had planned:
First, Fort Barrancas VC:
The fort is just a half mile down from the Air Museum, and I didn't realize it on my last visit to the Museum a couple of years ago. Got the pair of stamps here, a site stamp, and a stamp for the Pensacola Lighthouse.
Next, a revisit to the Air Museum- it was free, so I decided what the heck- It is a well done museum, and if you wanted, you could spend lots of money there however, but I did not.
They had a front exhibit of model aircraft carriers that was pretty cool, and a nice staff car-
Then, across the street to the Pensacola Light House- again, I completely missed this the last time I visited the Museum, even though it was across the street, pretty dumb. The museum was closed, and wasn't going to open for an hour and a half, so I passed on it, since I already had the stamp-
All through with my touring by about 11 am, so I headed back to the campsite- stopped in at a Bank of America to get traveling funds, and at a Wal Mart community grocery to get 4 things on the list, then back to the motor home by noon.
Will rest up this afternoon, Bette is crafting next door at the camp host, and tells me she sold 85 dollars worth of her stuff today- yea!!!
Tomorrow, Have to revisit the Pensacola Blue Wahoos for a ball and pin, and the Naval Live Oaks part of Gulf Islands, and may try for the Opal Beach part, although the Ranger Station is supposed to be not manned there.
Saw a few water jugs today to add to the collection,
This rusty old relic on the way to Perdido Key:
And this pair at the NAS Pensacola, near the Museum:

Jim, here's a little history on 1 (PATRICK J. IMHOF) of the volunteers at the Air Museum. He is the one that spent most the time restoring the PBY...Here is the link to the story.... why....http://www.vp45association.org/_seastories/ln-3-crash-1961.html
