September 19th To Jamestown Unit of Colonial NHP today

Concentrated on local today, went to three spots, a Captain John Smith NHT trail stop, then the Jamestown Unit of the Colonial NHP. 

Along the way, ran into several markers along the way:

Then it rained.  Because of that, we will leave tomorrow and head to SC.  Will go about 270 miles to Lexington NC for the night, then on to Greenwood.

September 18th Around town today....

Because we are planning on leaving earlier, I decided to go ahead and move around to some sites today on Sunday, normally a day of rest. 

First stop was York River State Park so I could get the two stamps there.  Then to Yorktown VC where I got 4 stamps and a pin, then to the Yorktown Watermen's Museum, got 2 stamps there, then lastly to Chickahominy State Park for a stamp there. 

Not sure what I will do tomorrow.

September 17th Fun day trip today to Williamsburg Va.

Took a bit longer than planned, due to construction and heavy traffic, but we did 236 miles or so down to Williamsburg VA. at the Thousand Trails.

First order of business was to take the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, which we did-  a $79.00 ticket, but a nice relaxing voyage, if a tight fit.

Then, we crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. $31.00 for that. 

 

Then we hit bad traffic, lost a half hour for that, and got to Thousand Trails about 3:30 or so.  Got a terrible site, not level at all, but at least a pull thru. Had to use the portable sat for TV.  Bette thinks we should leave early, and judging the traffic today, that may work. 

 

Pat and Dick Auger are here from Maine, and we went to Cici's pizza for dinner tonight, and we are off to IHOP for breakfast in the morning.  I'll probably plan our visits to the area tomorrow, and we may be on the road a bit early.  Looks like I can make it to Greenwood by Friday for the boys.  Yay!
