August 17th Catching up

After our trip to Ron and Judy's, took the weekend off, then have spent the last three days getting the coach repaired.  Started having trouble with power grid while we were in overflow, called Coach Net and Monaco without getting the problem fixed.  Bette looked into Googling a repair shop, and to our great fortune, found Northwoods RV, over near Concord NH.  We first went up to Scarborough Maine, to a Cummins/Onan dealer to have the genset looked at, while we were there, had the unit serviced, which was due.  Happy to know they are there!

Over to Northwoods, where we met Nick- who was an extremely competent technician.  He was Harley Davidson trained, and believe me, it is a small shop.   The flat rate charge was 85 an hour, which compares with $120 for most shops.  He was very careful as he analyzed the issue, and after 2 hours, decided the inverter was the problem.  We had replaced the inverter back in 2011, so I guess we were due.  Problem was, they are such a small shop, and they don't carry parts, so we had to have it overnighted into the shop.  We stayed 2 nights at the Super Walmart up near Concord, about 15 miles from the shop.
This morning, we got scared since the batteries were near negative charge, so we headed down to the shop at 0600.  The parts were not due in until about noon, which they came in around 1130.  I did go out and find 4 new markers in Northwoods while there!
Bette also added the step repair, and Nick properly diagnosed that issue as well.  So we got both fixed, about 2000 dollars for the fix- but well worth it.

We drove back to Moody Beach, and were prepared to stay in the overflow, but Trish came out and said space 9 was available, so we parked there, but it was only 30 amp.  Bette originally negotiated a spot in the back, so we unhooked, and headed back, then the ranger came and told us the park had promised that site to another, so we headed back to site 9 again, hooked up.  Round 2.  Then George came up and said sorry, but we can actually have it!  Unhooked for the third time, and headed back to the back, where we are now.  Full hook up 50 amp, with full TV as well!

We were pretty far behind on laundry, and showers, so we'll catch up on both.  May not do anything tomorrow-  have to wait and see.
Finally saw some new plates as well!

Aug 11th and 12th

As planned, went up to Meredith again to see Judy and Ron.  Hot day, had a very nice lunch and chat.  May head that way yet again if Suzie flies in, which she is likely to do.

Today was a quick trip down to Portsmouth to see the tall ship Oliver Hazard Perry a 200 foot 3 master.

Had Bette and Buster along, so that meant a stop at Jo Ann Fabrics for 30 dollars worth of craft stuff, and a stop at Verizon as well to see about the battery usage on the phone.  No resolution there.

We had a coach problem for a while, no power, but a call to the rescue guys at Monaco out in Oregon provided a painless fix.  Reset the breaker on the generator, was all.  Problem fixed!  Good thing too, cause it's ugly hot here today.  Be running the generator most of the day for sure.

August 10th Rest day, then back to Portsmouth

Took a rest day Wednesday, so I could head on down to Portsmouth today to see the Tall Ships come in, but then it rained most of the day, and then Bette called to tell us we were being bumped from our spot at the campground, due to bad advice from the office gals.  Well poop. So now we are out in the overflow for maybe a week.

As I said, Portsmouth was sort of ok, but it was raining.  did see some new markers, but didn't see tall ships.

Tomorrow is a run back up to Meredith NH to see the Williamsons again, and stop along the way for several markers, and then a Wal Mart Stop for some things, and I guess Hobby Lobby too.
