August 31st Still under repair ...

Same routine, drove in from Pio Pico this morning to Mc Donald's for breakfast, then to Fesler St for repairs, then to Mercedes Benz El Cajon for repairs, then back to Fesler St for repairs.

Here are some shots from the attempt to repair the horn:

At La Mesa RV, we need the step repaired to come out, the horn fixed, and we bought a new Blue Ox tow bar.   We were also looking for our TV, and step ladder, which we left in the old coach.  Looks like we will spend the night here possibly, or go back to Pio Pico .   We went over to Mercedes Benz of El Cajon, and they gave us the run around, told us they would need the coach for three days, and could not guarantee a hook up.
Update:  We did locate the TV and the step ladder.  Good for La Mesa RV!

August 29th Over to Yuma to pick up the new coach!

This morning early, we headed to the sales office after McDonalds for breakfast, signed the paperwork for the day, since we got cancelled yesterday, then drove the car over to the Fesler St. address to head over to Yuma, so we could take possession of the coach.

Here's Bette and I proving we went to Yuma!

Saw these water tanks today as well.  We got back to the new coach get ready place, since we have a few things wrong with the new coach, the direct tv doesn't seem to work, the cabinet shelf failed, the front chairs won't turn around, and we have to unpack the coach, and repack the car, which is full!

August 28th Off to Yuma, well not really!

We arrived at the dealership at 0800, by and hour and a half, we had completed changing out the coaches, then we had to wait for the payoff check to arrive, then at 1030, we left headed for Yuma.  We were motoring along, and after about an hour and a half, we noticed the road was closed, and they were forcing everyone to exit.  Turns out a few miles down the road, a car had flipped, and a truck ran into it, and then there were 7 other cars involved.  They advised us it would be 3-8 hours before the Interstate would be open.

I 8
    [IN THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA]
IS CLOSED TO EASTBOUND TRAFFIC 1 MI WEST OF THE JCT OF SR 98 (IMPERIAL CO)
- DUE TO A VEHICLE FIRE - MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO USE AN ALTERNATE ROUTE So, we turned around and headed back. They put us up in a hotel for tonight, since we couldn't take possession of the coach, This is the fifth night in a hotel! We will go to the sales part tomorrow first thing to resign the paperwork for the 29th date, then the convoy will start. We went to McDonalds for dinner.

We did finish loading up the new coach, but we will be unloading and sorting for many hours to come.

August 25th Resting at the Residence Inn.

Resting up at the Residence Inn while the finish up the coach.

Went to Wal Mart to get a couple of things, and some storage containers for the new coach.
Had a nice free breakfast at the hotel.

Will rest up, watch tv and call the dealership to see about the paperwork at 1 or so, and learn if we have to go to the dealership and do paperwork.

Friday August 24th Well, we sold the old coach!

We actually did it last week, we've traded for a Winnebago Via, sort of a View on Steroids!

The literally made us a deal we couldn't refuse, so we are downsizing!  Won't miss the old coach much, the Via has a 25 gallon fuel tank vs. a 100 gallon tank, and the fuel consumption on the old coach was 8-9 mpg, vs. 15-17 for the Via.  Plus our monthly payment is reduced by 212.00.

So here is the old coach:
And here is the new:

Sorry for the ruse, but I decided to keep the secret!  We got the Satellite  antenna transferred today, as well as the Blue Ox tow bar.  We got about 30% of the coach contents transferred out, we'll attempt to finish Monday morning when we sit down at the dealership to finish the paperwork.

Also, saw the Deputy Kenneth Collier bridge, he was killed during a chase in 2010.  He apparently ran into an abutment during the chase, and it was a very fiery crash.

August 24th To La Mesa RV for transfer switch repair...

In at McDonalds waiting for our appointment at La Mesa RV for the transfer switch repair.

We're set for 11.  So we will hang out here and wait.
Yesterday, we caught these 2 shrines on the way home- Otay Lakes Road is pretty deadly!

August 23rd At McDonalds again!

Nothing new much to report, our transfer switch and inverter are not working on the coach, and we are waiting today to see about taking the coach in.  In the meantime, we have no air conditioning, no hot water, and reduced 12 volt capacity! Hope they have it in stock.

Been waiting two days to get in, in the meantime, we crossed over to the South Side, with 50 amp and sewer, but things aren't working.  Poop.

At McDonalds writing this as we speak.

August 18th Over to McDonalds again...

Headed to Mc Donalds again to do school work and answer mail on the computer, since we have to phone or wifi service at the campground.

There is a big luau tonight at the campground, probably won't go.  Probably watch TV most of the day. Football games are on!
