Petersburg, then down to Tide Water Va.

Left the coach at 8 this morning for about a 55 mile drive down to the three units I could get to for Petersburg National Battlefield, which included the Five Forks Battlefield VC, the Eastern Front VC, also known as the Petersburg VC, and then Grant's Headquarters, which is known as City Point.  Got a total of 5 stamps for the park.

Then, I ran back up the road to downtown Richmond, so I could get the Maggie Walker Site, which was closed on Sunday, so I got that, just one stamp and a pin there.
Then, I scooted a couple of miles over to "The Diamond", the home of the AA Richmond Flying Squirrels - farm team for the San Francisco Giants.  Beautiful venue- formerly an AAA stadium-

Then, about 40 miles down I-64 over to Williamsburg Outdoor World, were we were settled in and had lunch by 1 pm.
Then, I looked at the map, and decided I could get to two units of Colonial National Park, which I did-  went about 60 miles over to Cape Henry to the Lighthouse, and got 3 stamps there, including the Lighthouse passport stamp-
Then, I sort of doubled back and got to Fort Monroe, which is one of the newest units in the system-  wonderful old fort-  it is a classic old fort, strategically located, and has the old style officer's quarters too!  Wonderful views, couldn't tell if they were still occupied, but it looked like they were-   Did see a 4 star general's flag on the post.

Still racing towards home, but we agreed to slow down the pace a bit-so we'll stay here tomorrow night as well, then go down to Nags Head, then Morehead City, then Wilmington, then Greenwood.   Maybe Greenwood  Saturday?
