B-52 Crash Site at Elephant Mountain, Greenville Maine

Just outside of the town of Greenville Maine, where we are staying, back in 1963, a B-52 on a training mission crashed into the side of a mountain outside of town, killing most of the occupants on board-

Here is a web site that discusses the tragedy:

I had read about the crash site in a Sunday paper back in Maine, and asked Wendy and Steve about it, and they knew all about the site-  and said it was close by, and we should go, and we did.

There are many signs that direct you to the site:
You park on the side of the road, and walk about 400 yards up a hill side to the actual wreck scene, and many pieces of the wreck are still there...  nearly 50 years later.  It is eerie, to say the least.

It was a silent thoughtful visit.

Tomorrow, the girls are going to play, while Steve does some committee work, and I will be doing Lander stuff, Thursday, is fishing in the morning and then a boat ride, and Friday, we will be heading to another Rocky Morris Concert.

Love it here!
