Day 35-Downtown New Orleans

Today, we sort of slept in until about 8 or so, and then hopped in the car and headed over to the Algiers Ferry, parked the car, and rode the ferry over to town.

We had to wait for some busy river traffic, a tanker of some sort, then a barge-
then we headed over- took about 5 minutes-  then we walked and walked over to the Visitor Centers for the 2 metro stops- the New Orleans Jazz NP and the last unit of Jean Lafitte-

We also walked along Peters street, and walked past the same sites we had visited with our pals Dan and Kippy back in 08-  Cafe du Monde, the Jackson Square, and all the shops-  Got all my stamps and two pins so we were all set on that score.  On the way back, we stopped at Bubba Gumps for a very good split hamburger, the hopped on the 1 pm ferry back to out spot.

Saw this traditional jazz/mourning band walking the street-  singing and playing, very New Orleans.

Tomorrow, we are headed just 71 miles or so over to Buccaneer State Park in Waveland Mississippi for 2 days.
