Per plan, we left San Antonio at 0630, so we could beat traffic, which we pretty much did, and then sailed through Houston pretty much, then stopped at a Beaumont Tx. Wal Mart, unhooked, and then ran 30 miles up the road to Park 189, Big Thicket National Preserve. Only had one stamp out, got a pin
Then, we were planning to start the multiple locations for Jean Lafitte NHP & Preserve, but got stymied a bit when the first location was not open today, in Eunice La. So we bypassed that, and headed directly for Lafayette, La, where we are now. I was able to get to the Acadian Cultural Center here in Lafayette, and got a park stamp, which again was the only one out. Beautiful interpretation of the Creole/Acadian Culture...
Sadly, we missed a connection with one of my former students from Mid Carolina, Tommy Burke and his wife, but we'll catch them next time.
We're spending the night at Camp Wal Mart, since I was a bit tuckered after 498 miles.
While I was at Big Thicket, I happened across another in my series of "personal auto as expressive art," Number 6 in the series, I believe. This was another religious themed one....
