May 14th The Mayor M.E. Broome House

This is a Victorian Revival House which features several decorative elements.  Internal walls are said to be one inch thick tongue and grooved boards.  It is located at the corner of Houston Street and the Railroad Tracks, and is one of the few remaining houses in Live Oak that was primarily inhabited by railroad workers.  The first Live Oak Train Station and the famous live oak tree for which the town was named were near this house.  Today, it is under adaptive reuse as a hearing aid store....
