The African Baptist Church was organized on July 28, 1868.  The first wood frame building was located at the corner of Parshley St and Houston Ave on property donated by Nancy Parshley.  The original building burned in 1904.  In 1910, it was replaced with a natural hewn stone church.  The church is listed on the Florida Heritage Trail.
