Mr Thomas Dowling built this wood frame home with double gables and Greek Revival characteristics with massive wood columns supporting a prominent cornice. Dowling had several businesses: Dowling Lumber and Naval Stores Co., The Live Oak, Perry and Gulf Railroad, and sawmills in both Live Oak and Dowling Park. He also built a water tower which was later sold to the town as a water works.
