Over to Calais Maine today

We left Moosehead Lake at about 0800, passed up a planned stop at a mall in Bangor to stop in at the LL Bean Clearance store and also the AC Moore store, and proceeded directly to Calais.

We are packed into a Passport America park, Keene's Lake Campground- 50 amp, no sewer, and pretty tight, but it's inexpensive anyway.
We arrived about 1230 or so, and had trouble a bit getting level, but moved around and finally got situated.  Then we hopped in the car and went over to Park number 216, St Croix Island International Park- This park commemorates an early (1604) French settlement on an island out in the sound, in a shared area between the US and Canada, as the river/bay it's in is split between the two countries.

Got 3 stamps 2 at the Visitor Center at the Park, and one up in Calais at the Maine Visitor Center.
After that, we drove back down to the cute little seaport town of Eastport, Maine, and wandered the main streets for a bit, didn't find anything to buy.
No toy boats!

Eastport is moderately famous for its statue of a cod fisherman.

This is most of downtown.. Lots of nice art shops, pricey though.
Tomorrow, we will be heading down to Lubec and then over the line to Canada to visit Roosevelt's Campobello, his summer "cottage" home, and then see a couple of lighthouses, then we will probably head on down to the Bar Harbor area ahead of schedule almost a week.
