Random wanderings today......

Today, we sort of wandered a bit, but had a super day.  Started out by leaving Williamsport Wal Mart around 9 am, and got to Scranton Pa for a planned stop at Steamtown NHS.  I originally had planned to stop at a Wal Mart and drive in, but was told on the phone that there was lots of room for an RV, so we opted to head straight in.  Problem was GPS took me to an incorrect address, and we had to drop the toad, turn around and try again- then came up on a set of lower but not impassable underpasses, so it was an adventure for sure.

Turned out to be totally worth it.  Steamtown commemorates the Steam Train era of US History, and they spared no expense to get the story told.
The site was nearly totally delapidated until the Feds got involved, and now, it is a showcase of urban renewal-  but going through some hard times, for sure.

The buildings are all relatively new or refurbished, and really well done.  There are tons of exhibits, lots of trains to look at, a very good movie, and the whole thing is connected to a big downtown mall via an elevated walkway.

As I said, lots to see today:

Cooper and I thouroughly enjoyed the visit, and then we went over to the Mall, and had lunch at the food court, then Coop and I walked the mall, he found a game for his x box cheap.

Then, we headed over to Binghamton, NY, home of the AA Mets a farm team for the Mets, of course.  The team was on the road, but we managed to get in and get a ball and pin.  Coop also got a baseball from the bull pen!

Then, we planned our next stop to be another Wal Mart at Oneonta, NY, on I-88, but we opted instead to go to a Passport America park that we actually had stayed at before, and got in at about 5.  Full hook ups, still way overpriced, but we need the normalcy!!!  Even got a borrowed sat hookup to a permanently mounted dish next to us, so Coop can watch his beloved Gamecocks play baseball tonight~!!

Tomorrow, we have a short jaunt up the road a bit, after we head 20 miles up the road to Cooperstown NY, the home of the baseball Hall of Fame.  This will be an added bonus for the trip, since we were so close, I added it.  Coop has been here  before, but he was just 6 or 7 and doesn't fully remember.

After that, we'll head to the Troy NY area for baseball venue, stamp collecting, and Saratoga National Historical Park, then work our way up to Burlington Vt. area.

Another scorcher today weather wise, highs were well into the mid 90's-  84 as I type this at 723 pm, with a low of 64 tonight, then the weather will break a little and get back closer to normal- Highs in the upper 60's to mid 70's.
