Perfect day for the Blue Ridge Parkway

Today was about a 180 something mile circle trip, hitting 3 spots on the Blue Ridge Parkway, lunch at Subway, then a visit to a big flea market and Lowe's, then a longish ride home.  Thankfully, Cooper excused me from driving 65 miles back to Salem round trip for the ball game tonight.  We'll do that game tomorrow-  and hit the Booker T. Washington NHS as well, and sleep in a little!

Our first stop was the James River Visitors center, which as luck would have it, is right next to the James River!!!
It was actually a bit chilly for a lot of the day, and got cooler of course as we gained in elevation.

Then, we headed about 30 miles down the Parkway to the Peaks of Otter Visitor Center, got our stamps and a postcard there, along the way, we stopped at Arnold Overlook-

Lastly, we got to the Virginia's Explore Park VC, but not without a bit of effort, we misread an entrance sign, it said "service entrance", and went to a dead end, but a call to the VC revealed we were supposed to have turned there, so we backtracked for a mile or so, then got that stamp.
We had promised Cooper a Subway for lunch, and we found one a short distance away and had a nice sit down sandwich, then we headed to Happy's Flea Market-

Cooper was looking for some sunglasses, but no luck, and Bette and I didn't find anything.  We also made a quick stop at Lowe's for some screws for mounting my hiking medallions, and Kroger's for some food stuff.

It was a terrific day!  Tomorrow should be fun too.
