Sunday May 20th Quick trip up to Lake Allatoona

Didn't sleep so well last night, tooth and jaw were bothering me again, got out of bed about 8 or so, and we hooked up after another Wal Mart visit for a Journal-Constitution and a padlock, then headed the 64 miles or so up to our home for the next 4 days, Lake Allatoona COE, Northeast of Atlanta.  Actually breezed through downtown Atlanta at 60 mph with no stops!!!

I had sort of forgotten we were coming up on the Memorial Day holiday, and thought it wouldn't be much of a problem if we got in a day early on our reservations, but that turned out not to be so, they were pretty full, and that led to a bit of a circus to get settled, and we are still not, totally.

We called ahead, and were told that someone was on our reserved space for tomorrow, but they were supposed to leave today, which meant it would be open for us after 3 pm checkout, not before.  So we first pulled into an adjacent space, then noticed a nicer looking space across the road, and noticed the folks there were clearly vacating the space, so we went back and asked if we could move there, and went through a 40 minute exercise while they checked, rechecked, worried about online reservations and so forth, and well anyway, we're now in space 43, which is a nice long back in.
It's a nice shady spot, very secluded, a 700 foot walk from the bathhouse, 50 amp, water, no sewer, and is 12 a night with our senior discount.  Nice picnic table, and very level.  Can't get Sat, but that's not an issue.

Lake Allatona is good for us since it's only about 20 miles from my brother Bill's place-  and convenient to Metro Atlanta, which fits for the site visits for the next three days after today.

We'll head on out to Bill's for an afternoon visit shortly, then tomorrow we have 3 Metro Atlanta Parks to visit, and the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library as well.
