6.5 Innings of Dash, anyway...

Since it was such a long day, and since it was very threatening weather, surrounded by angry clouds, Coop and I packed it in at the Winston Salem Dash game with the Dash trailing 4-0 after 6.5 innings.

We got skunked with attempts to get any baseballs, this level of minor leagues is incredibly stingy and downright cheap when it comes to the cost of baseballs, they never once threw anyballs into the stands, the umpire kept every ball in play that got thrown in the dirt, etc etc.  The only balls anyone got was if a player actually hit it into the stands.

Beautiful stadium, small but somewhat enthusiastic crowd:

We got there an hour early on purpose to maybe get balls from batting practice, but they didn't even have batting practice-  so we hung out by ourselves.

The team mascot.

This is the finest electronic jumbotron I have seen in all of minor league baseball, they had quite a control room also, to run the thing.

Got a pin and a ball tonight!
They announced a crowd of 3,607 tonight, I doubt if there were more than 1000 of that-  Turns out the Dash actually made a game of it, and came back strong, but the score wound up 8-5

Note that Frederick had 16 hits-  and there were 5 errors in the game, I had them down for double that, but the offical scorer was very generous tonight.
