The plan was to head up to the town of Crested Butte, which is a ski resort some 40 miles away. Up the valley through Gunnison we went, seeing the usual fantastic scenery along the way...
The town of Crested Butte is a mix of old timey downtown, surrounded by expensive condo developments, and on the fringe of town, big expensive vacation homes. There was a sort of sidewalk sale going on, we browsed, but only got a pin of the town.
As we were walking the street, we heard rushing water, and sure enough, a river runs through it!There were lots of art studios, and this is a shot of what some of the town benches looked like, way imaginative!
On the way back, we stopped off in Gunnison and grabbed lunch at Subway, and got back to Elk Creek at about 2.
Tomorrow, we bereak camp here at Elk Creek and head about 100 miles up the road to Grand Junction Colorado. We may just spend the one day, and then get started over to Delta Utah, where we have reservations starting Wednesday.
Might aim for boondocking at Moab,, so we can run on down to Arches NP.
6 Days to picking up Brandon!!

We received your Royal Gorge postcard today. What a treat! Yes, we had been there - about a million years ago. So much fun to see it all again. Thanks so much! HAPPY CAMPING!
