Started out the day with the intention of going just a hundred miles or so, over to Grand Junction Colorado. Thought we would stay a couple of days at Camp Wal Mart, and go over to see Colorado National Monument.
Wrong.
Wound up going to Grand Junction, ok, got to Colorado National Monument fine, it was stunning!
Then, we decided since it was only noon, we would keep on driving, so we put about 350 miles on and got all the way over to Richfield Utah, all on I-70.
After reaching Grand Junction on US 50, we rode I-70 all the way over to Richfield. Awesome drive over, up and down ranges of hills and mountains, sandstone statues, High Mountain ranges, canyons, and valleys.
Here's a sample:
At Grand Junction, I was able to get over to Colorado National Monument- holy smokes! I of course forgot my camera, so here are some "borrowed shots" from the web:
We stopped for fuel at the Flying J at Richfield, and then headed to our spot for the night, Camp Wal Mart at exit 37 on I-70, Richfield Utah.. Some nice site!
We had a plethora of weather today, snow showers and 39 degrees, just as we left Curecanti, then rain showers near Grand Junction, and finally clearing skies, but coolish temps- its about 60 as I type this at 716 pm.
Tomorrow, I'll call ROD to see if we can get into Delta Utah, where we are headed tomorrow a day early. That will mean we will be there for three days, then over to Salt Lake City on Friday.
