We hook up with Jerry and Judy!!! On the way to Carlsbad

After a bad scare from yesterday's trip over to Joshua Tree National Park, in that I knew I had forgotten my cell phone, and we couldn't find it right away when we got back to the room, and thought we may have left it at a Denny's we ate breakfast at, but for the life of us, couldn't remember where it was, I found the silly phone on the floor next to the bed.  This is after Bette had called me twice to try to hear the phone, but of course it was on silent ring.  Terrible thing, this getting older.

Any way, we headed on down Ca 60 and then down I-215 to Menifee, Ca, for a scheduled visit to our Coquina pals, Jerry and Judy.  They are on a long sojurn in their beautiful 42 foot coach, and were resting up in space 495 at the Wilderness Lakes Thousand Trails in Menifee.

We chatted for a few minutes, and petted the wonder dog, and then headed up the road a bit to Coco's for a brunch.  We had not eaten breakfast on purpose, since I was hoping Jerry would pick up the check like the gentleman I knew him to be, and dang if he didn't!  Thanks pal, now we have a reason to hook back up with you out West this summer to pay you back!

We had a fun time with our waiter, emilio or something like that.  Jerry was totally impressed that I could converse with him manageably well in Spanish, thank goodness we didn't go to an Armenian Restaurant!!

Sadly, we had to hit the road, since we were due at Mom Zonas.

We are now seriously reconsidering our trip this year, and may very well head back out to the left coast, which is what we originally had planned to do anyway-  Bette said she's like to head back out that way, since we haven't been that way since 2007.  Yea, more planning!!!!

I had a notion that we were close to a minor league baseball team, so I remembered the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes-  Following the Bette rules, I called, and voila, the nice lady said she would be glad to open up the shop for me when I got there.  Problem was, the stadium was 41 miles back up the road we had just come down....  Rats.   No worries, says I,  we can do the Lake Elsinore Storm- they are just 7 miles down the road!!   Dutifully I called, and none of their numbers were connected.

Poobah.  Down the road we went do Mom's, and hit loads of rolling 30 mile an hour traffic jams, and pulled into Carlsbad around 3 or so.

Got caught up with Lander work on the laptop, and the girls chatted, then we went over to the mall and had a scrumptious Chinese all you can eat buffet- but i was good, had salad and one piece of baked salmon.

They are calling for clouding up, and some serious rain Wednesday, it seems.
