After our visit to Ft. Pulaski, we headed back into town and headed to "historic" (means very old and musty and somewhat nasty) Grayson park, the home of the Single A New York Mets Savanna Sand Gnats baseball team. They were playing the Greenville Drive, and it was a very sloppy game. Not much pitching, lots of passed balls and walks, and at least 3 errors on each side as we watched, through the 7th innning. The Gnats bats came alive and they got 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th.
Tonight was a free t shirt night for the first 1000 in, so we all scored a nice shirt. Cooper snagged a baseball just as we had decided to leave, I swear he is a ball hawk. This was one of the most unfriendliest parks I have ever seen to snag balls- There is a big net fence for practically all of the seating area, and the players were not disposed to toss very many balls into the crowd. We wasted front row seats at the visitor dugout. Still had a nice time though. Got a pin and a baseball for the collection.
