Battleship Cove, Fall River, Mass.

This is the main forward battery of 16 inch guns. Another battery of three on the stern of the ship. I was able to go down into the bowels of the ship to see how the turret system worked. It was round, and very complicated!
Looking to the stern from the very bow of the ship. It had a compliment of 2300 men. Quite impressive, and the ship was in very good shape, well maintained.

Detail of the ship's bell, and shrapnel damage from a fight with another ship in 1942.

The destroyer John F. Kennedy is also berthed here. Due to my spending nearly 3 hours abord the Massachusetts, I opted not to check out the Kennedy.

The Massachusetts. There was also a submarine, the Lionfish, some sort of Russian warship, and a couple of PT Boats on display- It was really quite an impressive display. Paid $15.00 for the tour, and got three pins and some postcards to send out to the usual recipients. A good day- got to park for free, and had a nice fairly priced very yummy chicken breast sandwich on board. Started to rain just as I was finishing up. Perfect timing!
