We left Greenwood at about 10 this morning and headed down towards McCormick, stopping at the Hardees for breakfast, yummy. Then another 13 miles over to Hamilton Branch State recreation area, which used to be on the shores of Lake Thurmond. We originally stopped at site 39, but we managed to get our levelers stuck. They wouldn't budge back up as we were trying to get to another site that we had chosen, site 46. We called GS road service, and they tried to walk us through a field fix, which for some reason didn't work. So they called out to Happy Time RV repair, (no, I'm not kidding,) and about 15 minutes later, up rolls Bubba and his biker chick lady friend in a beat up panel truck. He got out, and immediately pronounced that I had broken a shear pin. Damn the luck, and things like that. Long story short, when he tried the reset, as we had been directed to do over the phone, the jacks reset at once, no problem. Checkbook is lighter $65 for the service call, which will be forwarded on to GS service as a warranty claim.
As I said, this is a beautiful park, we are in site 46, which has full dish access, very strong signal for wireless access, and is good and level, looking out the back of our site, you can see how much the water is down from full pool, something like 28 feet or so, terrible draught here for a while.
The Coopman is with us on this trip, and he lobbied to bring his new birthday scooter along, and as luck would have it, he can ride here in this park- So he's out cruising around, there is a family from Bluffton next door with 4 kids, and he and a young man have made friends. We're off to do a ball game in an hour or so.
