May 19th Tour 1 of Civil Rights Sites in St Augustine

I originally started out with 9 planned stops for the tour, I wound up added 3 more since I drove by additional markers on the route. I was out just about an hour, and went 12.9 miles to the last stop.  I was amazed at the richness of the sites, and the stories they told.   I have also found a new App for the I phone, called Field Trip, which is free, and seamlessly ties into several key databases and essentially allows you to map and take an audio tour of the sites.  Way cool.  Really enriches the visit.

Here's what was originally scheduled:

The Florida Memorial University Site-
1074 W. King Street
650 Julia Street
96 Evergreen Avenue  The Zion Baptist Church
57 Chapin St. The home of Willie Gallimore
262 W. King Street- The Chase Funeral Home
Dr. R.B. Grayling home
570 Christopher Street
120 De Haven Street

These 3 sites were added as I came upon them during the drive:

The Evergreen Cemetery
The Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church
The Solla Carcaba Cigar Factory, which is a National Register of Historic Places site.

I'll do separate posts for these sites.
