May 16th At Mayo Out to Perry Florida today, only 1 new plate to report

Left the coach at about 1040-  Headed about 30 miles or so over towards Taylor County, and specifically the town of Perry Florida.

Wound up doing about 80 miles all told.  Originally had in my sites visits to 2 National Register of Historic Sites :  The Old Perry Post Office, and the Old Taylor County Jail- got those, Several  Florida Black Heritage Sites:  Jawkins High School, New Brooklyn Missionary Baptist Church, The Perry Army Air Base, a WWII training site, The Forest Capital Museum State Park,  2  Florida State Historical Markers at The Taylor county Salt Works, and the Hampton Springs Hotel Site, The New Post Office, and I got all of those.  Also got the County Court House .

An planned stop at the Taylor County Historical Society was a bust, they were only open on Thursdays from 1-4- but an unplanned stop at the Taylor County Chamber of Commerce got me a good county map, plus a bonus tour of up to 23 other historical sites on a drive/walk tour, so I added them.

Got home around 4 pm, had a terrific day of touring.

Only added one new plate today: Saw this at the Forest Capital Museum

Think the camping group will be joining up to attack a local eatery which is our Friday night tradition-  think we're headed to a smokehouse in Mayo-   That ought to be fun....
