Off to Cape Cod National Seashore...

Got up earlyish, and started out to the Cape about 945 or so, with a couple of planned stops for stamps, then meeting up with Tracy's Keith for lunch, then finishing out the trip by heading over to Provincetown.

First stop was at Salt Marsh VC, only got one of the four stamps that were supposed to be there, rats.  Asked them to look around, they would not.

Then, we headed up to the Marconi Station part of the park, which is also the Park HQ.  Only got 1 of the 2 that were supposed to be here, the 50th anniversary is not around!

The Marconi site was pretty cool, it was where the original short wave radio was set up back in the early 1900's.  Great sea views either way from the site-  Cape Cod NS encompasses almost 40 miles of unbroken seashore, as in not developed.  Way beautiful!!

Then, we headed up to Wellfleet, and met up with Tracy's friend Keith, and we had a nice lunch at a popular place there, PJ's.
Then we headed up to Provincetown for the last two locations-  The Province Land VC and then the Old Harbor Lifesaving Station.
Got the stamp quick enough at the VC, then had to wait first an hour, then another half hour for the Life Saving Station to be opened, was supposed to be manned at 3 pm, but the kid didn't show up until 330.  In the meantime, we drove back over to downtown Provincetown, but it was a madhouse, no parking, and jammed with people, so we passed on that, and drove back over and waited for the Life Saving Station to be open.

An elderly male couple walked up to me while I was waiting on the boardwalk and told me they were getting married, and sure enough in about 10 minutes the preacher came, with his vestments, with a nice rainbow stole, and 4 attendants, all male, and a photographer, and then they exchanged vows, and kisses all around.  Welcome to Provincetown!!!  Nice ceremony, wished them a happy life.

Then it took us about 2 hours plus to drive the 80 something miles back to Gateway at Rochester.

Tomorrow, we have a bit of a hustle, 93 miles to a quick stop in Sturbridge to get up to 3 stamps, then over to Springfield Mass, to hit the Springfield Armory, then a run down to Danbury Conn., about 60 miles to get the Weir Farms and then hopefully, we will make it up to Fishkill NY for the night at a Wal Mart.  Sunday is upper Hudson valley sites, including  the FDR House, Eleanor Roosevelt NP, and the Vanderbilt Mansion, and if time permits, a couple of other stops for the Hudson River Valley NHC.   Then Tuesday, we are headed down to New Jersey for a week.
