Didn't have an agressive day of travel today, just 78 miles over to Willcox, Arizona- so we could visit two national parks, and two local attractions in town.
It was I-10 all the way, beautiful sunshine day, temps started at 49- built to 65 or so during the day. We had some pretty stiff headwinds today, which I'm guessing accounted for our lowered MPG of 6.7- Used 11 gallons over. Top speed was 67, 1:30 travel time, 52mph moving average. Ride seems very nice on the new tires.
We pulled into the Elks Club, and there was one other unit in the area at the time, turned out to be some folks we knew from Tucson Lazydays, who are from Sumter SC....This is our first Elk's club visit, and it is a very nice set up. $15.00 for a 30 amp water hook up- there is a sewer dump here also.
The club is like two blocks from the main line of the railroad, and the trains have been running about 2-3 an hour, and they say they run all night, but it will be fine.
A while later, 5 rigs pulled in, a bunch of folks traveling together from the metro San Diego California area, on their way over to South Padre Island area.
After we hooked up, I drove about 85 miles round trip to visit two beautiful and interesting National Parks, Chiracahua and Ft Bowie, Parks number 178 and 179. Beautiful scenery at Chiracahua.. I blogged about it over at the National Parks Blog...

Then, we came back into town, and visited the Marty Robbins museum, the Rex Allen museum, and went shopping a little. Bette found a nice basket.
The Friends of Marty Robbins museum has lots of nice memorabilia about the singer, who while not from here, had connections here:
Right next to it is the Rex Allen Museum, which is larger, and dedicated to the history and story of the "silver screen cowboy star."
Across the street, is the Rex Allen Memorial park, which counts as a "I see dead people visit."
It is also the site where his sidekick horse, KoKo is buried.....
Rex Allen starred in several oater westerns, and then in a TV series or two, then had a long career as a pitchman and a voice over actor, primarily with Disney.
Sadly, he was run over by one of his staff in his driveway....
We also visited the old train depot at Willcox, which is now the city offices and houses a small museum- it is also an active Amtrak station..
There is not much to main street, but its quaint for sure....
Here is the antique store where Bette found her basket- nice place.
Nice day of touring and seeing neat stuff. Tomorrow, we head over to Las Cruces New Mexico for a couple of days. Lots of local stamps, White Sands National Monument- and then on down to El Paso.
