The stupid rest room didn't have any toilet paper! Had to improvise with an ad insert from a newspaper that was left in the stall. Grrrrrr.
We arrived at about 12:38 for a 1:10 game... and I had failed to scope out what the parking arrangements were or were not. Mostly they are not- Wrigley field is basically located in a neighborhood with no parking to speak of.
Tensions were running a little high, but I found a spot 2/10ths of a mile from the stadium, for only 25 dollars... We had seen signs for 30 and 40- so we parked, and followed the crowds to the stadium.. Found our seats in good order, except we actually sat in the wrong seats to start with, and got seated actually before the game started.
About the 4th inning, some folks showed up and advised us we were in their seats, so we moved over a section- no problem- except I was seated next to a guy who had about 2 pounds of what looked like bear grease in his hair- I swear.. God did he stink! I almost took a picture of it...
Anyway, great game, enjoyed it so much. Cubs won, 4-3 over the Reds. Wrigley Field is one of the oldest in baseball, and is somewhat small- the Cubs fans were much more animated than the Sox fans, but this is for sure an old stadium. The facilities are far from modern, and you have to walk long trips to the concessions and rest rooms.
We successfully got back to the car, and of course, we were slam in the middle of the 5 pm rush hour traffic, so we called ahead and got permission to stop at McDonalds on the way home for dinner- We got back at 715.
Got a pin and a ball today, and good memories.
Tomorrow, we bid a sad goodbye to Brandon, we'll leave for the plane at O'Hare at about 8- He's scheduled for take off at 1210.
Sunday, Bette and I will be heading first to Chattanooga, for coach repairs at Shipps, then to Atlanta to see Danny, then Greenwood.
There were over 42,000 at the game today, nearly a sell-out |
They have rooftop seats all across the outfield- Pretty cool.... |
