Glad I hadn't made reservations yet! Turns out Bette's mentor for basketmaking here in Florida is actually a snow bird, and lives in a little burg in Michigan near Kalamazoo, called Middleville. Well, she spent the night here last night due to her husband being in the hospital here in town, well, we were talking and decided, shoot, we probably don't need to go as originally planned from the Chicago area to Nappanee, Indiana as originally planned, since we were heading to a guy there to possibly get some furniture for the interior of the motor home.... and we could do Michigan instead.
Perfect! turns out there are two ROD properties we can stay at for free, plus I get to add a couple of baseball teams and several Passport Stamp sites to the agenda.
We will be dropping Brandon off at O'hare Airport early morning of Sat the 6th of August, then head back to our site, pick up the motor home, then head over to a previously planned stop at Indiana Dunes National LakeShore near Gary Indiana, then head over to Kalamazoo Mi for three days. While Bette is with Lorraine the next two days to basket stuff, I will head up one of the days to Grand Rapids Mi to the Gerald Ford Library and Museum, which is a plus, and there are two Motor City Heritage Area Stamps there in Grand Rapids also. Also that afternoon is a ball game with the Western Michigan Whitecaps.
The next day, while Bette is playing with her baskets, I'll head over to Lansing Michigan, for the Lansing LugNuts baseball game, and there are 2 Automobile museums there for the Motor City National Heritage Area.
Then, we head over to Hartland Michigan, which is outside of Detroit, for a couple of days. There are like 15 locations in Metro Detroit and Ypsilanti that have to do with the Motor City National Heritage Area, and some big spots too. Henry Ford Museum, Chrysler Museum, etc etc. Not sure how much I can squeeze in, but I'll do as many as I can. Really looking forward to that. In addition the Detroit Tigers will be visited, even though they are out of town those two days.
Then,, its on to the Toledo Ohio area, and I found an ROD there also! In Toledo, there are a couple of National Monuments, as well as the Toledo Mud Hens, the all time way cool minor league baseball team.....
So, it's a good thing. I may wind up using the cabinet guy we know in Greenwood to build the furniture for the motor home, if we decide to so that- We need a built in desk for the main living area.... the pull out table we have now is just not sufficient.
Weather was chilly this morning, near 45 this morning, only 70 or so for the high today, but will be in the 90's by the weekend. This weekend we have the residents garage sale, so we hope to move some junk we have in the garage. Bette is optimistic.
15 More days to go before blast off!!!!

Um, hello. We live in Michigan and have a camper. Can you include a revision that involves us maybe?
