First stop was Andersonville NHS. Just a short drive down the road from Unadilla. The grandsons and I had previously been here, so this was a quick stop just to get the Passport stamps, which I did, there were 3 total, one for the site, a 25th Anniversary stamp, and a bonus stamp with a prison motif.
Next was another short trip down back roads to Plains, Georgia, the home of the Jimmy Carter NHS. We has also been here previously, but we goofed, and didn't get to the main visitor center, which is actually in the old Plains High School. A very nicely done exhibit- Got 2 stamps here.
Next, after getting the motor home settled in Auburn Alabama, I hopped in the car and did a quick spin on down to Tuskegee, Alabama, and picked up stamps that we missed from our previous visit with the boys trip.
Wrapped up the National Park visit day with a trip of about 4 miles over to Tuskegee Airman NHS. It was a struggle, the address given on the NPS website is bogus, and at the actual site of the visitors center, they are completely redoing the parking lot, so there was a sign that directed you up the road a short bit to Hangar 1, which is a temporary home for the visitors center. I'm surprised that they aren't further along, it was still in a primitive condition on our visit a couple of years ago.
Got pins for the first three parks, I already had a pin from the Airmen site.
Glad to get the missing stamps- The state of Georgia is now complete.
