Wonderful visit, wonderful folks at Augusta Canal on the way home today..

We left Greenwood right on schedule this morning at 0830 and just at 10 we pulled into the Gift Shop of the Augusta Canal Heritage Area.  What a pleasant experience!  We were met by a lady that far and away was the nicest, happiest, most upbeat person I have seen in some time in a public venue-  She had a wonderful way about her, and I'm sorry I didn't learn her name, but she sure made the visit pleasant.  I got a pin and a Passport stamp, which made up for the shop being closed on the last visit, which was over the Thanksgiving holidays, so all is forgiven.  I also got a great lesson on the power of blogging: as I was heading to the rest room, of all places, a very striking young lady came up to me, and asked if I was Jim... Well yes, I said, and she explained that she was on the staff of the museum, and part of her duties were to monitor any mentions of the Canal that randomly appear on the Internet.  Seems my post yesterday announcing our plans to visit today popped up in her search engine this morning, and there I was in person, just like the picture..(well almost, I've lost 70 lbs since May!) I promised her I would give her a nod in tonights posting, and again, your name has escaped my senior mind, but the Executive Committee needs to know that there are some super people manning the store at the shop!  The museum itself is exceptionally well done, highlighting the history of the textile industry, and its obvious importance to the Savannah area.  The displays were wonderfully done, and I highly recommend a visit if anyone is in the area.

With this stamp, I am now complete for the 2 locations of the Augusta Canal Heritage area, and actually, complete now for the entire State of Georgia.
