What a night at Charleston River Dogs!

We picked up Cooper today from school at 12 noon, then headed on down to Charleston via Columbia.  Traffic was a little slow going, then picked up the other side of Orangeburg.  We got to our hotel, the Courtyard Mariott Coliseum, about 6 miles north of the city.  We got to the room, rested a bit, then Coop and I headed on down to Joe Riley Park, which is basically on the campus of the Citadel.  The first good thing to happen was I pulled into the restricted parking and talked our way into parking right next to the stadium, for free!  Saved $5.00.  Then, as we walked up to ask directions to the ticket booth, we were handed two vouchers for free tickets!  Huzzah!!!  Well, we walked around the perimiter to the ticket office to exchange our tickets, and we noticed balls being hit out of the stadium!  Turns out they were long foul balls down the left field line, clearing the fence, and bouncing out into a busy 4 lane street, Highway 17!  Cooper jumped on three balls right there, before we ever got inside.  He gave one away right there to a cute young lady, and then we got into the stadium.  There were several giveaways on the concourse, and Coop got himself a mini soccer ball, a water jug, and some post it notes, and some pins.  What a day !  We found our seats, good ones on the second deck section 208, 4 rows up.  Coop lasted until about 9 pm, which was the middle of the 7th inning, before he asked to come home, which we did.  Got back to the hotel room about 915.  Coop got another ball from a RiverDog player, and wound up keeping one and giving away three.
A longish day, but certainly one we'll remember.  Bette is not at all feeling well, upset tummy.  She may stay in tomorrow- We'll see.
Plans for tomorrow are to get up, then McDonalds, then either head down town first, or head to Ft Moultrie first, depending on how we feel, then after Ft Moultrie, the Charleston Sullivan's Island lighthouse, then the visitor's center for Ft Sumter, then over to Patriot's Point, where we'll catch the boat on out to Ft Sumter, then return, and if we haven't gone downtown yet, then do that.
Weather has been very hot, no hint at all of Hurricane Earl- it was over a hundred on the way down, and 94 degrees at game time.  There was a nice breeze during the game, though.  Perfect visit so far!
