After leaving Huntsville, we headed about 60 miles northeast, to Bridgeport, Al, to Russell Cave National Monument. It is, as you might guess, a set of three caves that served as a fall/winter quarters for Native American groups of hunter/gatherers back in the day. They had a very informative movie done by the Auburn University folks, and we enjoyed walking through the cave, that they had set up as it might have been all those years ago. What a simple life. Main thing you had to worry about was what was to eat, I suppose.
