Today, while Deanna and the ladies painted pottery, Dante, Cooper and I revisited the National Civil Rights Museum in downtown Memphis. The museum is on the site of the Lorraine Motel, which was a "black" motel back in 1968 where Dr M.L. King was staying while he was engaged in the support of a local garbage workers strike, and was shot to death while on the balcony of the motel. There is an outstanding museum and series of exhibits, and we also watched a very moving movie that they present that details the story. This visit, we included the stop across the street, which has the site of the place where the convicted killer, James Earl Ray rented a room and a display of his story.
