On our way to the Williamsons today at Meredith, we discovered that this was the annual "Bike Week" at Laconia, NH, which actually involves a string of towns along Lake Winnepesauke. If the weather is good, they expect crowds of up to 400,000 bikers, they say. They were well on the way to that figure, based on what we saw today, even though it was Thursday, and not the weekend. Apparantly, they just gather for the week, and take turns riding up and down the highways showing off their colors, their bikes, and themselves. We decided to take a different route home, to avoid being amongst them on the way home.
