Went downtown today and saw several Memphis sites, this one was the most interesting- It is the National Civil Rights Museum, which is on the site of the Lorraine Motel in downtown. The room 306, on the corner above, with the wreath in front of it, was where Dr. King was standing talking to some folks below when James Earl Ray fired the single shot that killed him across the street, in the photo on the left. There is a very moving 30 minute video, and lots of artifacts about both the movement and Dr. King. Cost was $13.00, and I got a pin also. This location was near the top of my bucket list, and I'm glad to have made the visit.
