Scenery on the way up to Advance, NC today- the fall colors around are nearly at their peak- and really beautiful!!
We headed out from Greenwood at about 7:30 this morning after a round of hugs from the boys, they had the day off too. We fueled up at Blacksburg, paying $2.97 a gallon for diesel. Been a long time since we paid below $3.00. We missed congestion both at Spartanburg and Charlotte, and made good time- no traffic issues on the way. We pulled in around 11:45 or so, and Kippy and Dan had secured a perfect site for us, C-4, right up on the first section, we have full dish, and a fairly strong wi-fi, plus 50 amp. All is good.
Dan and Kippy look great, Dan, none the worse for wear it seems from his recent hospitalization, and Kippy is her usual smiling self.... They had prepared a wonderful soup and salad for us and invited us over, which we quickly accepted- while we were there, the repairmen showed up to address their heat pump issues, turns out its a bad compressor so they will have it repaired after the parts arrive- hopefully by the end of the week, but possibly next week. I for one am looking forward to a week of fellowship, good food, and exploring. I know Bette is too.
We are so glad to be back with our running buddies. We've commented many times on how dear and near they have become to us over time, and we realized we really missed them. They will be fairly close by through Christmas now.
Weather is overcast, the forecast had called for fairly heavy rains all day, but not so much rain so far. We ran through some good showers on the way up but the rain has held off.
The coach seems none the worse for wear for its three month layoff, which is a good sign. It ran smoothly on the way up. All on board systems seem to be fine. We refilled the fresh water tank half way, so we could get some slosh in there, before we add the chlorine.
Park is about 1/3 full it seems, they will be open through December then close until February.
We will be long gone towards Texas by then.
We'll be headed out for dinner down the road tonight, think we're going to the Sagebrush, which is a favorite while we are staying here. Think we may try a local favorite Bar B Que place tomorrow night.
More later- Cooper and Brandon we miss you!
