As our friend Bill Trinkle said on Facebook after I posted, It wouldn't be one of our trips unless we had a breakdown somewhere..... We had left this morning, and gotten to Bedford VA, our next planned stop, got all checked into the Visitor Center little 3 space RV park, and were all hooked up and good to go when all of a sudden the power failed. Really goofy, lost the control panel, and the air conditioners, but had the wall sockets and the microwave oven..... Called Coach Net, and they sent us back up the road 30 miles to Camping World in Roanoke, just off I-81. Arrived at 1220, Cooper was upset because he really wanted to watch the FIFA match on TV, so we ran him over to the Derry's house, and then we waited to get in to see about the coach.
Finally, at 4 pm, a nice tech got to it, and plugged it in, and everything seemed to work pretty well- we at first suspected the portal power was bad at Bedford, but on a little further checking, there is a converter of some sort that is failing to charge the house batteries, and he thinks that may be it.
They will begin their search for the part at 0800 in the morning. In the meantime, we are outside the bay we were in, good 50 amp power and water, and pretty well set- Had to forfeit our payment up at Bedford, so we'll call that even, since its free here.
Presume we will stay the night here, then learn about the part in the morning, then perhaps hang out, hopefully not too long for the part to arrive and see if that does the trick. We have two days built in, that I can cancel before we pretty much need to be on the road up to Penn and then Hershey by next Tuesday. Tune in for updates..... for now, resting up.
