June 11th On through the desert to the High Country....

We settled in for the night at our Quality Inn at Mammoth Lakes California in the high country- still some snow on the peaks-  

We stopped at Red Rocks Canyon outside of Las Vegas for an Old Spanish Trail stamp, beautiful scenery there- 

Then over to Death Valley  I had been there as a kid, but had forgotten how forboding the place is.  
106 while we were there....

Then, a stop an Manzanar, which was a Japanese Internment Camp during the war- very moving site.  

Then, we stopped in at the Visitor Center for Devils Post pile National Monument.  

Today, after we stop in at Verizon to see about my phone, we will head up to Lee Vining to visit a Forest Service VC, the backside of Yosemite, then on up to a stop for the Pony Express and then the Nevada State Capitol, then on into Reno.
