A Hard day of Camping at Gettysburg!
We arrived at Outdoor World Gettysburg Farm at about 2 or so, after a 180 mile drive. Good enough. Surprise! Even though we had a reservation we were told all the three-point sites had been taken, (first come first served), and all that was left were the grass sites by the river. No problem, except that they sort of forgot to mention that it had rained every day here for two weeks. After much grumbling, we tried a site that required us to park on an angle. Well, as I started to back up, we sank. Note to self, if it ain't on concrete, gravel, or solid surface, don't park a 32,000 lb motor home! We sat for about an hour until the resuce brigade came, with a John Deere and a chain. We gingerly pulled off and were about ready to leave the place when we discoved a single site was just vacated, so off we went, and luckily, we got one. That having been said, this place is like cramming sardines in a can. We are backed up two feet from our neighbor's rear- and the place is jammed. But, we are here. The Verizon is spotty, no other wifi, so we'll be going to town to post. Today, the sun is shining, and we're headed off to do factory tours after showers and breakfast at our new favorite place, Dunkin Donuts. Think we'll do Snyder's of Hanover, Utz, and a couple of factory stores today, and then do Gettysburg tomorrow.
