June 16th The motel from hell

We decided to go ahead and come down to Salt Lake City-  Part of that was we had to cancel two other reservations with out incurring any costs, which we were able to do, the next part was to find an inexpensive room in SLC for the two extra nights.

We thought we would try the Econolodge in downtown- turns out to be one of the worst motels ever, and one of the worst lodging decisions I've made.

Among the several complaints:  It was in a really seedy part of town, lots of street people hanging around, the place stunk of urine all over, the internet didn't work- a guy had has bike stolen while we were there, and frankly, Cooper was scared to be there.

After a couple of hours, we said the hell with it and checked out- to be told that the young Indian men on duty didn't have the authority to issue a refund, and that I would have to call the manager today-  

I will be giving Choice Hotels and earful about this place, for sure.

Happily, we got into a Days Inn in Midvale, about 10 miles down the road,  5.00 more, and it is nice. And the Internet is working!  

Coop says he wants to stay in today, so I'll run up to SLC and get some stamps and visit a few monuments and the State Capitol.
