February 13th Friday field trip today was to Green Cove Springs Florida

I originally decided to head to Green Cove Springs, which is about 22 miles away up the Interstate to locate a Roadside Oddity feature, an unused Space Shuttle Fuel Tank.  Turns out there were 4 markers in the general vicinity, two water towers, and three locations on the National Register of Historic places, plus a Green Cove Historic District, with 78 buildings, and a Post Office as well.   

I'll do separate posts for each category, but for now, here are the two water towers:

First, a generic Green Cove Springs one:


And this much older, interesting rusted one, at an industrial site on the way into town on Fl. 16:
















Here is the Post Office:




And,, the big Saturn Rocket Space Shuttle fuel storage tank, listed on the Roadside Oddities website- normally, these burned up on reentry, but this one was not used.
