Day 3 Chewlaca State Park Auburn Alabama to Camp Wal Mart- Ft Payne Alabama

Actually woke up early today, and had to hang out for a while, so we would not be early for our first stop.  We had cereal for breakfast, and it was misting outside and decidedly cooler, thanks to a cold front that came through. The day was overcast and spritzing mist for half of the day, then it cleared up pretty much and temps moderated, about 82 for the high today.

We are currently at Camp Wal Mart off exit 218 on I-59 at Fort Payne Alabama.
Comfortably nestled in, a mile from the Interstate, so its fairly quiet.

Our first stop today was Horseshoe Bend National Military Battlefield, a battlefield from the War of 1812.  It is located out in the boonies off Alabama 49, so we drove carefully on the back roads and got there about 905.  I got two stamps there, and we were the only visitors.
After a brief stop, we made a slight change from the original plan, and headed up the back roads again to Anniston Alabama, to visit the Camping World there.  We had discovered that the umbilical power cord that hooks up the car turn signals to the coach had worked loose, and dystroyed the old cord.  After checking around Auburn and not finding, we headed to CW, since it was at a CW that we found our first one.  We were in luck, got a nice new one, a little shorter than the old one, so it shouldn't fail again.  $94.00 fix.

Then, we had about a 75 mile or so trip up the back roads to our next planned destination, Fort Payne Alabama, and the Wal Mart.  We got messed up when as we attempted to get on I-59, the exit was closed.  So we went south 8 miles, found a fuel stop, a Petro, and hit it for 335 dollars of fuel. That will keep Bette silent about that for a while.   So we lost about a half hour in all, and got back up the road in good order, except that there was 12 miles of single lane travel due to them resurfacing our  lanes.

We got to Fort Payne about 130.  Bette settled in to the generator and air conditioner, and I headed out for my 2 objectives for Fort Payne, well actually I had 3,-  the Alabama museum was visited, missed that the last time I was in town with Cooper-  see seperate post on that, then I headed out to the Canyon Center visitors Center for the LIttle River National Preserve-

Got 4 stamps there, and got back to the motor home about 330.  At 430, we decided to go out for dinner across the street to Ryans.  After blogging, will crash pretty good!
Here is our spot at Camp Wal Mart-

Tomorrow, after breakfast, we'll head up the road about 50 miles to Shipp's in Chattanooga and check in, then do a day tour of Chicamauga Battlefield, and Monday, we have a service call planned.
