In at Tyler Texas State Park

Drove 288 miles from Vicksburg Miss., arriving at about 4:30, after having left Vicksburg at about 9:30- We had free tickets for the breakfast buffet, which we took full advantage of- The normal price was $6.99 and we got out money's worth! Both of us had omlettes cooked to order-
We then drove 50 miles or so and stopped at a Wal Mart to replenish our tea and water supplies, and got a new coverlet for the bedroom, since the one we have is too heavy for summer- Not sure if we'll keep it or not.
Then we stopped at Grambling State University- so I could get a pin- It makes Bette furious when I stop at places with the motor home, since she is always pre-convinced we are going to get stuck and not be able to turn around, which I will admit has happened once in the 200,000 or so miles we have motorhomed- and that was a night when I couldn't see- anyway, we had a nice tour of the back areas of the University, including their very cool football stadium- The Grambling Tigers are of couse the team of Coach Eddie Robinson, who won about 400 or so games as a coach- Any way, we didn't get stuck, and I got a pin-
Next stop was Acadia, La. for lunch at at Subway, and we both got 12 inch subs so we would have a quick and easy dinner tonight.
Then, a few miles down the road to Gibbsville, La., where the Bonny and Clyde were ambushed and met their death in 1930 something. There was a little storefront museum there, but the dang thing was closed, when it was supposed to be open. Poop. Did'nt get anything there, obviously.
Then we motored on into Tyler, here at the State Park. We paid $24,00, after discounts, and we have a nice enough site, 50 amp with sewer, but it is not level. We spent over an hour and three different sites before we said the hell with it, and got fairly level. Texas needs to work on that- The park is nice enough, nice other facilities, a big lake, a beautiful boat house, swimming pier, etc etc, but not level sites!
We have about 130 miles or so into Metro Dallas tomorrow- We'll take our time, and let morning traffic sort itself out- then head on over.
