The Lenox 301 at New Hamshire Motor Speedway
The race we went to was the Lenox Tools 301. The usually run 300 miles, but for this race, they "ran the extra mile" to honor those in service. There was a flyover of two F-18's just before the race. way cool- Pretty sure Cooper will remember that flyover for many years......
This is a view of the track from our seats, we could see the whole track, and as you can see, it was practically a sell-out. Think there were about 110,000 folks there. Even though we were 26 rows up, the noise was deafening! Ellen had earplugs, and if she hadn't have had them, I'm pretty sure my ears would still be ringing. The only thing we cuoldn't see was pit road, but they had big diamond vision screens up, so you could see the televising of the race as tv watchers saw it. Nice touch. The race was actually red flagged, or stopped, with just a few laps to go, because the rains finally came. That allowed Joey Lagano to win, the youngest driver ever to win a Cup race. There were 10 caution flags during the race, and a couple of big wrecks, one that caused a red flag stop of the race at lap 176.
